Following our first infographic exploring residents’ experiences of the NHS App, we’re sharing the next set of findings from our survey results and conversations with local communities.
Our findings show that around 1 in 3 people across Reading and Wokingham Borough combined, do not use the NHS App.
This finding is important because there is no single reason why people are not using the NHS App. Feedback from residents highlighted three key themes:
People's preference for non-digital ways of accessing healthcare
Confidence with technology and digital skills
Access to devices and technology
What does this mean?
These findings show that people access healthcare in different ways. We need to listen to what works for people, make sure everyone has a choice and support those who want to use the NHS App and digital services.
For people who want to use the NHS App but lack the skills, confidence or access to a suitable device, there are opportunities across both areas to help people build their digital confidence, connect with existing support and improve access to devices and connectivity.
The infographic below sets out the findings in more detail, including what residents told us and the actions we believe could help address these barriers.
