Caring for a partner, parent, relative or friend can bring unique challenges. However, many men do not identify themselves as carers, which can make it harder for them to access the support, advice and information available to them.

We are delighted to announce that we've been awarded funding through the Better Care Fund from Reading Council for our Men as Carers project. One of just 10 projects selected for funding, our project aims to better understand the experiences of male carers in Reading and ensure they can access the support they need.

Working with men with lived experience and local community partners, the project will help identify and support hidden male carers, improve access to advice and support, reduce isolation and establish a lasting network for male carers in Reading.

By listening to the experiences of male carers, we also hope to raise awareness of the important role they play and help shape support that better meets their needs.

Are you a male carer, or do you know someone who is?

We'd love to hear from you. Please contact us below to find out more about the project and how you can get involved.
